WE ARE NOW OFFERING ACUPUNCTURE! ALSO OFFERING HOME VISITS
My name is Sheri Mounteer. I grew up in Wyoming. I received my Masters in Physical Therapy degree in 1996 from the University of North Dakota. After 20+ years of practicing in a variety of settings including orthopedics, geriatric rehab, home health and upper level management, I transferred my knowledge and skill set to pursue my passion for dogs. In June 2019, I received my certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist from the Canine Rehab Institute.
I am Fear Free Certified.
My hobbies include the outdoors – mountain biking, trail running, hiking, skiing and camping. I love to enjoy many of these things with my dog, Hannah. I am also an active volunteer with the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley.
I am excited to be a part of Denver Dog Rehab & Wellness. I moved to Colorado with my family in the mid-90’s and never left. I graduated from Regis University with my Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 and focused my career on geriatric rehab and home health. After 20+ years in the field, I did some soul searching on next steps, and decided to combine my passion for physical therapy with my passion for animals. I received my certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist from The Canine Rehabilitation Institute in March 2023. I am Fear Free Certified.
My home is considered a zoo with 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 bunnies, a bearded dragon, and my fellow zoo keeper, my husband. When I am not chauffeuring my children to their various activities, I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and enjoying the beauty of Colorado with my family. I look forward to working with your beloved pet to help them live their best life!
I have loved animals for as long as I can remember, and I’m grateful every day that I was able to turn that passion into a career as a veterinarian. I have a special interest in a One Health approach to veterinary medicine, focusing on strengthening the human–animal bond through a tailored, Fear-Free approach with each patient. I especially enjoy soft-tissue surgery, navigating complex cases, and helping pets live happy, healthy lives.
My journey in veterinary medicine has been shaped by my time in both Alaska and Colorado, where my love of animals and nature truly flourished. During my training in Alaska, I had the unique opportunity to work with sled dogs, marine mammals, and rural communities—experiences that continue to inspire my work today. I am also fluent in Spanish after spending time in Argentina, which has allowed me to connect with and expand access to care for more pet owners.
Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy cooking, exploring new places, and immersing myself in music, art, and the outdoors. You can often find me by the river or hammocking with my dog. I also play bass clarinet in local groups and am currently learning the cello.
I’m excited to bring my skills and knowledge in veterinary acupuncture to Denver Dog Rehab, and I look forward to supporting pets and their families with compassionate, integrative care.
