WE ARE NOW OFFERING ACUPUNCTURE! ALSO OFFERING HOME VISITS
My name is Sheri Mounteer. I grew up in Wyoming. I received my Masters in Physical Therapy degree in 1996 from the University of North Dakota. After 20+ years of practicing in a variety of settings including orthopedics, geriatric rehab, home health and upper level management, I transferred my knowledge and skill set to pursue my passion for dogs. In June 2019, I received my certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist from the Canine Rehab Institute.
I am Fear Free Certified.
My hobbies include the outdoors – mountain biking, trail running, hiking, skiing and camping. I love to enjoy many of these things with my dog, Hannah. I am also an active volunteer with the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley.
I am excited to be a part of Denver Dog Rehab & Wellness. I moved to Colorado with my family in the mid-90’s and never left. I graduated from Regis University with my Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 and focused my career on geriatric rehab and home health. After 20+ years in the field, I did some soul searching on next steps, and decided to combine my passion for physical therapy with my passion for animals. I received my certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist from The Canine Rehabilitation Institute in March 2023. I am Fear Free Certified.
My home is considered a zoo with 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 bunnies, a bearded dragon, and my fellow zoo keeper, my husband. When I am not chauffeuring my children to their various activities, I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and enjoying the beauty of Colorado with my family. I look forward to working with your beloved pet to help them live their best life!
I have been practicing veterinary medicine in Denver since 2003. I provided services in general practice, dentistry, and emergency care. I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in 1999 and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2003. I became interested in the benefits of physical medicine and received my certification in veterinary acupuncture in 2022 through Curacore Academy.
I enjoy building relationships to partner with your family to help care for your pet. I am passionate about helping to treat pain and improve mobility. I am Fear Free certified to help minimize stress with clinic visits.
Outside of the veterinary world, I enjoy all the outdoor activities our beautiful Colorado has to offer with my husband and two daughters. I love trail running, skiing, hiking, and cycling.
I love animals and am passionate about the positive benefits of the human-animal bond. I enjoy being able to help pets and their people as a veterinarian and acupuncturist.
A few of my favorite things are dogs, my husband and two young children, traveling, basically all
things outdoors, and learning. I am originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but my love of learning and
travel took me to Maryland for my undergraduate studies, St. Kitts in the Caribbean for vet school,
Louisiana for clinical rotations and China for my acupuncture training.
Ultimately, the mountains called, and I settled in Denver in 2016. I work in the Denver metro area as a small animal veterinarian in general practice, performing surgery, dentistry, urgent care, preventative medicine, acupuncture, and rehabilitation therapy.
I am excited to extend my acupuncture services to Denver Dog Rehab and do more of what I truly
love – making dogs feel better!
